AstronomyDaily.com lives on two dedicated Sun Cobalt servers connected to the outside world with 22 redundant Gigbit links from seven different vendors.

Our servers run the Linux operating system and web pages are delivered by the Apache web server.  ASP scripts are processed by Sun Java System Active Server Pages.

Database support for both the main site and the forums is provided by MySQL.  All database setup and management is done with EMS MySQL Manager.

Nightly weather data for 1,500 locations worldwide are updated four times daily by AccuWeather New Media services.

All-sky charts displayed on the "star chart" page are created with SkyChart III from Southern Stars Software.  All other charts on AstronomyDaily.com are prepared with Desktop Universe from Diffraction Limited.

Aurora alerts are provided by the Space Environment Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Real-time Gamma Ray Burst data is provided by NASA's Gamma Ray Burst Coordinate Network and the AAVSO High Energy Network.

Planetary and lunar ephemerides are provided by the Horizons Online Solar System Data and Ephemeris Computation Service of JPL's Solar Systems Dynamics Group.

Discussion forums run on phpBB software.

HTML editing and general site management is carried out with Microsoft FrontPage.

AdCycle manages and serves all vendor advertisements.

Text searches within the site are done by HomepageSearchEngine.

Almost all graphics on AstronomyDaily.com are created with Adobe Photoshop.

All pixels, bits, electrons and photons are 100% recycled.

No animals were harmed in the production of this web site.
